About
Con Dao Island is located off the southern coast of Vietnam and is best known for its dramatic contrast between dark history and untouched natural beauty. Once nicknamed “Prison Island,” Con Dao was used by the French colonial government—and later by South Vietnam—as a detention center for political prisoners. Today, many of the former prison buildings have been preserved as museums, offering powerful insight into Vietnam’s past.

Beyond its historical significance, Con Dao is Vietnam’s largest and most pristine island in an archipelago that has remained largely undeveloped. Its remoteness has helped preserve its forests, coral reefs, and quiet beaches, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking nature, tranquility, and meaningful cultural experiences.
