Hue heritage site open free on TetUpdate: Feb 06, 2018 On the occasion of lunar New Year (Tet) 2018, Hue heritage sites will open free for visitors from February 16 to 18 (from the 1st to the 3rd day of the first lunar month).
On this occasion, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will organize diverse activities welcoming Tet.
Specifically, on the first day, there will be dragon performances, folk games, calligraphy and artistic performances at Thai Hoa palace, and music programs at The Mieu, an ancestral temple to Viet Nam’s emperors in the Imperial City.
Previously, the Center erected a Neu pole on the 23rd day of the last lunar month of 2017 at The Mieu and Long An Palace.
This is a traditional ritual of the nation and also an important ritual in the early New Year of the Nguyen Dynasty.
In addition to the spiritual concept of folk, the Neu pole erection of the Nguyen Dynasty also signifies that the New Year is coming.
