Vung Tau City is located in southern Vietnam, at the tip of a small peninsula overlooking the East Sea. Historically, it was an important port city, especially during the French colonial period. The city is home to several important religious sites. The most iconic is the Christ the King Statue, a 32-meter-tall statue standing atop a hill with arms stretching 18.4 meters wide, considered one of the tallest Jesus statues in Asia. Buddhist landmarks such as Thich Ca Phat Dai Pagoda and Niet Ban Tinh Xa Temple also attract pilgrims and visitors from across Vietnam.

Vung Tau can be visited year-round due to its mild coastal climate. The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to April, when the weather is sunny and ideal for beach activities. Weekends and public holidays tend to be crowded, especially with visitors from Ho Chi Minh City.

- Vung Tau is only about 130 km from Ho Chi Minh City, reachable in around two hours by road or about 75 minutes by hydrofoil ferry
- Back Beach is better for swimming, while Front Beach is more suitable for walking and sightseeing
- Visit major attractions early in the morning to avoid crowds, especially on weekends
- Fresh seafood is widely available, but prices may increase during peak tourist seasons
